"Troops back from Iraq

"The first groop of Dutch SFIR-soldiers has returned from Iraq on monday afternoon (14th of march. The aproximately 150 soldiers arrived at Eindhoven airbase, where they were awaited by minister Henk Kamp and their friends and relatives. The soldiers had participated in the fifth detachment of the Stabilisation Force Iraq (SFIR 5) for the past 5 months.

"There was a joyous mood at Eindhoven airbase. Dozens of banners welcomed the soldiers in every possible ways. Besides there were a lot of flowers and balloons. Relatives were very happy to be able to hug their loved ones again after being gone for five months."

After serving in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, the Netherlands will expand their commitment to Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan to help out with security in the coming parliamentary elections there.
